Ephemera Afternoon, March 23

As part of our community-building activities we also recently ran an event called Ephemera Afternoon in collaboration with ECU faculty member Gabe Wong, in the COMD Studio at Emily Carr. The event showcased printed ephemera from multiple periods.

This was a show-and-tell for people interested in material culture including DIY graphics, ephemera and print-culture history, vintage magazines, type specimens, flyers, and more. These transitory forms of communication reflect the conditions, concerns and interests of everyday life from different periods. They can also be compelling pieces of graphic inspiration. This event was very popular and we’d like to eventually document some of the materials shared in a future publication around the value of print ephemera.
